World's Most Advanced Metal 3D Print - Aiming For Gold at 2018 TCT Awards
Every year TCT magazine hosts an annual competition to celebrate entrepreneurs, innovators and engineers who push the envelope with their own unique application with additive manufacturing.
Last year in 2017 we placed in the top 3 with our Van Gogh replica. The entire piece including the canvas and frame was 3D printed in SLA and finished fully by hand.
Recently we've added a new addition to our fleet of 3D printers with a Renishaw AM250 metal 3d printer.
With this machine we printed our ancient Roman helmet in 316 Stainless steel. The helmet then underwent extensive manual finishing including sanding and buffing to reach a smooth enough surface before it was plated in nickel and gold.
All the plastic components were 3D printed in SLA and manually painted and dyed to mimic the looks of real gems and stones.
The TCT award winner for the creative application will be announced on September 26. Our entry has gained a lot of recognition in the public eye and we hope to secure another victory in this category.
